The significant event for the energy sector of the Caspian region – International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition (Caspian Oil and Gas) was held in Baku, the heart of Azerbaijan. This event was held for the 24th time and attracted about 290 companies supplying various types of products and services, as well as more than seven thousand visitors, 85% of whom are specialists in the oil and gas industry. Sumy machine builders snatched an opportunity to present their potential.
According to Sergei Ivchenko, deputy head of Sumy NPO Marketing Department, this year, commodity producers from 30 countries of the world gathered to represent themselves at Caspian Oil & Gas, among them: Belgium, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Belarus, Netherlands, Poland, USA, Japan, Great Britain, Romania, Ukraine and many others. Azerbaijani enterprises accounted for about a third of the total number of participants.
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, traditionally started off the “Oil and Gas of the Caspian”, which considers the oil and gas sector of his country to be fundamental, and therefore highly evaluates the role of this exhibition. “We are strengthening our oil and gas potential and plan to export natural gas and oil in even larger volumes,” he said.
“A pleasant impression was left not only by the size of the staff, but also by the range of goods and services that the producers offer potential partners. The companies’ stands were full of proposals related to oil production, transportation of energy resources, provision of hydrocarbon storage systems, pipeline safety, etc. Nevertheless, in all this diversity “Sumy NPO” PJSC was not lost – our exposition enjoyed a steady demand, attracting the attention of both local officials and representatives of eminent companies-customers. Communication with them showed: Sumy machine engineers are known and respected there, “- Sergei Ivchenko says.
As deputy technical director for the complete facilities Aleksander Severin adds, the meetings held during the Caspian Oil & Gas meeting outlined the range of probable prospects for the company.
“Undoubtedly, Azerbaijan is an interesting market for us, but at the same time it is not deprived of its features related to the economic realities of this state. However, the Caspian oil and gas region continues to live. It is planned to implement a number of projects that are of considerable interest to Sumy NPO. In particular, it was announced the intention to construct an oil and gas processing complex, whose capacity should be about 10 billion cubic meters of fuel per year. The financing of this ambitious project will be decided by 2018. Another interesting idea is the transfer of the Baku oil refinery with its subsequent modernization, as well as construction of a plant of polymers and a complex for the production of propane-butane. Now these projects are at the stage of elaboration by general contractors. All of them are well-known foreign companies, and in order to be attracted to the works mentioned above, we need to go through prequalification in them, ” explains Aleksander Severin.
As for individual samples of products, the exhibition participants were greatly interested in oil and gas and chemical equipment, created under the brand of Sumy NPO. There is also a need for spare parts for reciprocating compressors.
