It is planned to ship the products in several stages. The first shipment to ISF-2 is expected by the end of March, and the finish line for Sumy machine-builders is in the first months of summer.
It should be noted that last year “SNPO” successfully completed a number of contracts as part of the construction of the second Interim Spent Nuclear Fuel Dry Storage Facility at the Chernobyl NPP. Specifically, the enterprise manufactured packages of embedded elements and metal structures, as well as four door units, one of which is meant for isolation of a concrete module, and the rest of them are intermediate units. Also, this summer an additional contract was signed for the production of another air-tight stainless steel door structure weighting close to a ton. Like the previous items, it needs to guarantee effective long-term operation in a highly radioactive environment. The equipment has already been manufactured by the Sumy machine-builders and approved by the customer representatives, so it will be transported to its destination in the near future.
The purpose of ISF-2 is to take in, treat and store spent fuel assemblies and additional absorbers that have been accumulating at the Chernobyl NPP, for the next hundred years.
